CLINICS & CLASS VISITS

Gabriel has a true passion and desire to pass on his knowledge of music to the next generation. Considering himself an ambassador for music, Gabriel not only informs but inspires.

Gabriel serves as bass faculty for the Atlanta Chamber Music festival, a seven-day residential music festival for students of all orchestral instruments in grades 6 to 12. He has also facilitated masterclasses and lecture recitals for Upbeat String Camp, University of Florida Bass Bash, and Valdosta State University Bass Day. Gabriel is a frequently requested clinician at many elementary, middle and high schools in the metro Atlanta area. He has also enjoyed opportunities to visit schools when his performance schedule takes him to other cities in and around the southeast to speak to students about music and the double bass.

Gabriel's approach is fun and lighthearted while simultaneously pushing the students to find the best in themselves and unlock their true potential.

Gabe Monticello is a fine bass instructor who engages students at every level and is able get students excited about playing the double bass. His demonstration and explanation of concepts connect well with the students and my bass sections continually look forward to having Mr. Gabe work with them. His group teaching as a sectional clinician are effective and enable students to play for one another in a safe environment to help conquer performance anxiety. His private lessons encourage the development of skill on the double bass so that students learn to become better, well-rounded double bass players.

______

Gabriel is one heck of a bassist – all styles, as far as I can tell! He plays stand-up and electric. He is so much fun and really engaging with students. He has the ability to get them to really listen to themselves and critically analyze their playing. He comes regularly into my middle school classroom as a bass coach, and bass students are so excited on their day! He is always punctual, and never lets us down. My students that have studied with him privately have gotten so much better in a small amount of time that I’m always amazed! He has been a guest artist at my camp: Upbeat! String Camp and has the absolute best presentation! He knows bass, music, and people!! He is hugely helpful in any way possible. As you can tell from this testimonial, I think Gabriel is a great musician, bassist, and teacher, and I highly recommend him 10/10!
